About Narai Studies
A Bangkok financial education centre founded on the belief that people at midlife deserve a considered, unhurried place to grow their financial understanding.
← Back to HomeHow Narai Studies Began
Narai Studies opened its doors in Huai Khwang, Bangkok, after years of observing a quiet gap in the market. Many people in their forties and fifties — educated, capable, established in their careers — had never had a clear, patient conversation about household cashflow, investment review, or retirement income design. They weren't beginners who didn't care. They were adults who had simply never been offered a course suited to their stage of life.
The school takes its name from the Thai principle of Narai — a metaphor for the many hands that hold different parts of a full picture. Financial planning at midlife touches cashflow, savings, insurance, investment, property, health, inheritance, and family. Addressing one without the others rarely moves a household forward in a meaningful way.
Our founding faculty decided early that the school would keep cohorts very small. Seven to twelve learners per intake. Not because of resource constraints, but because real financial learning requires conversation, honesty about one's own situation, and space to ask questions that don't feel comfortable in a crowded room. That commitment has not changed.
We are based at 85 Pracha Uthit Road, Huai Khwang — a neighbourhood well known to Bangkok's established professional community. Our in-person gatherings and the larger advanced programme take place at this address. Weekly live sessions for all courses are conducted online.
What We Stand For
Clarity Over Complexity
Financial concepts are often presented as more complicated than they need to be. We work to strip away jargon and present information at the pace a learner actually needs — not the pace that makes a course seem impressive.
No Conflicts of Interest
We do not sell investment products, insurance, or managed funds. Our instructors are paid to teach, not to refer. This is not a minor detail — it is the structural choice that allows us to remain genuinely educational.
Grounded in Thai Reality
We teach from Thai household examples, Thai bank products, Thai inheritance law, and Thai healthcare finance — not from frameworks designed for a different country. Learners recognise what we describe.
Respect for Your Pace
Adults at midlife are not empty containers waiting to be filled. They arrive with experience, concerns, and existing habits. We design our courses around reflection, not transmission — giving ideas room to settle.
Our Faculty
Each instructor brings a specific and relevant discipline to our courses. The advanced programme introduces you to the full faculty; the earlier courses are led by a primary instructor with support as needed.
Prayong Setthachai
Over sixteen years advising Thai households on retirement income and asset allocation. Leads the intermediate and advanced programmes and designed the core curriculum.
Nanthipha Wattanaporn
Specialist in Thai succession law and estate structuring for families with mixed or cross-border holdings. Contributes to the estate and family wealth module in the advanced programme.
Kamon Phongpan
Focuses on the intersection of health coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and retirement planning in the Thai context. Guides learners through the practical realities of later-life health budgeting.
Aranya Charoenporn
Helps learners navigate the conversations about money that are genuinely difficult — with spouses, adult children, and ageing parents. Brings a decade of family mediation experience.
Siriporn Ratnakul
Conducts individual mentor sessions for beginning-course participants, drawing on a background in adult education and personal finance counselling across Bangkok's professional community.
Thanom Limtrakul
Manages course scheduling, printed materials, and learner communications. Ensures each cohort experience runs smoothly from enrolment to completion.
Our Standards
What we hold ourselves to across every aspect of the learning experience.
Qualified Instruction
All instructors hold relevant professional credentials in their field — financial planning certification, legal qualifications, or specialist advisory credentials.
Privacy of Learner Information
Information shared during individual sessions and cohort discussions is held in confidence. Learner financial details are never disclosed to other participants.
Curriculum Review
Course materials are reviewed before each new cohort intake to reflect current Thai regulatory and market conditions.
Structured Feedback
Each learner is invited to share feedback at the mid-point and conclusion of their course. This shapes improvements in subsequent intakes.
Honest Course Descriptions
We describe clearly what each course covers, what it requires of learners, and what it does not include. There are no hidden requirements or unexpected commitments after enrolment.
No Product Referrals
No instructor receives compensation from any financial product provider. We hold this standard as a condition of employment, not as an aspiration.
Financial Education for Bangkok Professionals at Midlife
The years between forty and sixty present a distinct financial landscape. Career income is often at its peak, while retirement is no longer a distant abstraction. Insurance policies accumulated over decades may or may not fit current circumstances. Property, superannuation-equivalent accounts, and family obligations sit alongside investment holdings that were set up in a different period of life and may not have been reviewed since.
Narai Studies addresses this landscape directly. Our three courses — beginning, intermediate, and advanced — are sequenced to allow learners to move at the pace that suits their existing knowledge and current capacity for study. Each programme draws on real Thai financial documents, local banking products, and the legal structures that apply to households in Thailand.
We do not use abstract case studies from other countries. We do not offer guarantees of any financial outcome. What we offer is a structured, honest, and genuinely small-group learning environment where people at forty-plus can build a clearer picture of where they stand and what thoughtful choices might look like from here.
